Here is an interesting one. Setting up New 40 GB Maxtor hard
drives in my G4/733 I found that the one hooked to a Sonnet ATA-66
PCI/IDE card writes zeros at least twice as fast as the one hooked to
the onboard IDE port.
Does anyone have any idea why there would be such a large
difference in the time this operation takes? Or, more importantly, is
this an indication of the seek or access speed of the drives?
If so, the onboard IDE on my G4/733 is only half as fast as
the Sonnett card IDE.
Thanks,
