Ola,
We use Outlook Express 5.02 (on OS 8.1) here at home to manage 11 email
accounts. I'm waiting on OS 10.1, when I intend to cease using Microsoft
products.
MSIE 5 is nice when it works, but freezing the entire machine over a flaw in
the web page (HTML or scripting language) and not offering any solution, bug
fix, or even acknowledgement of this as a problem is inexcusable.
Outlook Express mostly has been very reliable. I got got version 5 soon as
it was released, and used v. 4.5 before that. However, it did crash once
damaging some saved mail and it's intolerably slow when displaying HTML
mail.
I did use Communicator for a while. I've got Communicator 4.78 and do use it
sometimes, but Navigator is slow and bizarre in it's behaviour. iCab has
become my main browser. It's small (both in it's use of disk space & RAM),
if it crashes it doen't take the entire system down, and saves web pages
(instantly, unlike IE which reloads the page to save) as zipped (compressed)
archives which take up a lot less space than IE's archives. On my system it
does exhibit fairly frequent "quit with an error of type 2 errors" which I
suspect has to do with OS 8.1.
So how many of you have moved or are planning to move to OS X soon ?
Tchau
