This might be a stupid question... But when you tested the cable, did you
use the exact same port on the switch?

Sometimes ports or entire backplanes can start to go bad...

I just ordered a dualy 800, so the first thing I'll do is check it with the
hub (don�t have a gigiabit switch, just 10/100) and see if things are
kosher.
