My freind Adrian just got back to our house today with his brand new
G4 QS 733 and Flat Panel, lucky him :). Any how, we tried to connect
it to our network but he didn't show up on the light panel on the
Switch (which means nothing is happening as far as network goes
PERIOD). We replaced the patch cable with a working one and no
result. I tested the cable all the way to the switch with my iBook (I
love portable computers :) ) and no problem there. The only
conclusion we could come to was the Ethernet on his QS was dead but
he had it working at home using a cross over cable so that was
unlikely (the machine is only about 1 month old too!). as a last gasp
i plugged it into our secondary subnet (controlled by my aging 12
port 10Mbps D-Link hub) and bingo it works. WHAT GIVES?

It's not OS specific btw.

Cheers
