This appears to be correlated to the installation of 9.1 on a partition, 
perhaps including the updating of the disk driver on the boot drive.

After such 9.1 installation, my good old, dependable 8.5.1 will get periodic 
freezes, some of which are preceded by very slow keyboard or cursor responses.

I also believe this is a VERY difficult bug to eradicate, and I can think of 
no solution short of reinitializing one's hard drive with Drive Setup 1.7.3 
(which works fine for 8.1, 8.5.1 and 8.6) and restoring one's data.

FWIW, the initialization of the hard drive is different for 9.0 ... and it is 
different still for 9.1 ... in the number and type of hidden partitions, 
although the accessible, and hence mountable partitions may be the same as 
for 8.1, 8.5.1 and 8.6.
