Thanks everyone, for all your input, but with all due respect, I just fail to find any humor in anyone deliberately sending out virus infected attachments, even if they won't work on a Mac. Since my post of yesterday (which I'd already received 10), I've received a total of 22 of these type messages, all from addresses I've never heard of, all with either .pif, .wav, .cfg .mve files attached, or .exe files attached. There is never a body in the email, just the attachment which when I tried to open it, I got the message "File can not be opened due to corrupted audio/video format" All came with various headlines, "open immediately, important information enclosed" or "New Quick Time clip discovered, ABOUT YOU! open immediately" "Your immediate attention required, this concerns your future". While many who post on here seem to feel this isn't a big deal, I have a new G-4 machine that I've saved a long time to get and is used by myself and my daughters in their research and homework projects. I don't have the funds to go out and begin to replace hard drives or software that may get infected because of some punk's sick sense of humor. It just seems rather coincidental that these files began being sent to me about 8 days after we had this little "blow-up" on this list due to someone posting under a false name and grossly abusing the privileges that most enjoy without incident, and his friends getting upset with me for publicly chastising him on the list. Perhaps it's not related, but it certainly seems more than a little odd. I have saved these and I will turn them over to people more knowledgeable than myself on how to track down the source of these documents. I understand there can be severe financial and criminal penalties assessed against those who are found to be responsible. I would strongly urge anyone else who feels they are receiving these type of messages due to any affiliation with this list or any other, to not turn away and laugh this off. The only way we can stop this is to continue to talk to one another and work together to pursue those responsible and not allow a few "boneheads" to ruin our community we have developed through our affiliation on these lists.
