I've noted the designations of logic board revision as "A,B,C" and "1,2,3"
seem to be interchangeable. You can upgrade by buying a revision 2 rom dimm
and changing it; they sell for about $45 on eBay I believe- a bit steep.

The logic boards are numbered, the ROMs are lettered.

The valid machine combinations are: 1A, 2B and 3C.

1B and 1C is not valid, but it works, and it will give you slave support on a
Rev. 1 board.

Rev. B and C ROMs are going for about $100 on eBay.

You can buy a /266 desktop, complete, many of which were Rev. 3C, for about
$185. Look for a machine made in 1998.
