I have a HP Deskjet 870cxi it worked great up to OS 8.6 hooked to a G3 via a Momentum uConnect USB to serial port and original extension. Since I upgraded to OS 9.2.1 , weeks later and many conversations with various experts it's still not working. The 800 series drivers were last upgraded in 1999. HP have established that the Hardware is not at fault and that there are no cross communication problems (?I don't know what that means) System profile sees the USB to serial adapter but not the printer. chooser recognises the printer software. ( I'm currently in the curious position where the experts say we have to establish why the Deskjet is not working before we recommend buying another printer. (Epson, next time I think) So far I haven't had this problem with the old Laserwriter 4/600 PS (touch wood)
Other than that HP are tough but remember they are not postscript If you use QuarkXpress that is a problem.
