You should read the specs of the B&W G3 on www.apple-history.com for more info.
Anyway, to answer some of your questions : There were 2 versions of the B&W G3 (not counting the cpu speed) - Rev.A and Rev. B. Rev. A is notorious for having a bug in the way it handles multiple IDE hard drives. Basically, it doesn't do it well at all. Rev.B is meant for multiple hard drives and can easily accommodate a master and slave IDE drive. I myself bought the Rev.A B&W G3 and so I had to get an ATA-100 card in order to properly use the master and slave IDE hard drives. You can tell if you have Rev. A or B because Rev.B has extra mounting brackets in bay 3 for another drive. In terms of SCSI, no there was no built-in SCSI on these machines. This was done via a PCI card (I have an Adaptec SCSI card); the card should have an internal and external port. It shouldn't matter which is the master drive as long as you set the jumpers correctly on the drives themselves (but I'm not sure about this). Firewire peripherals are still expensive but they are fast. I have an external Firewire CD-RW and I've been using iMovie to edit videos via the firewire port. My ports works great, though I have heard that the B&W G3's are suppose to have some problems with their firewire ports. They are all external ports - 2 USB (not including the keyboard) and 2 firewire. The USB ports are version 1.(?). Hope this helps. on 6/24/02 6:54 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Actually I do have another curiosity... > > Not having the machine in front of me yet I can only go from the research > Ive done. > > I think I was told that it has internal scsi so Im assuming it is an > internal pci card...maybe its part of the motherboard..I dont know... > question is I have a 9gb 7200rpm SCSI HD and an 8gb 5400 IDE HD that I > plan on installing for the time being.
