That's certainly true if both devices are on the same IDE channel, but 
the B&W has separate interfaces for the HD and CD. The one intended for 
the HD is ATA33, but the one for the CD/Zip is the slower ATA3. Do you 
have both your HD and CD on the same ribbon cable?
