OK got the B/W a couple hours ago.

as mentioned before it came without Ram , HD , or Video Card
(or b/w system disc)

first I identified it as a V2 MB <402 chip> smiled and went about
installing stuff into it.

1> my ATI 4mb card from my 9600
<not wishing to attempt a voodoo5 til things work right>

2> (2) 256mb pc133 sticks

3> 8.6gb IDE HD from my parted out C600
   <with Umax system OS 7.5 -> to retail 8.6>

I didnt want to attempt to start it up from the Umax OS'd HD so I promptly
inserted the 8.5/6 OS disc in the CD/DVD rom as I started it up...holding
down the C button in the process.

RESULT was nothing much Im getting a folder in the middle of screen
with a "mappy mac" and a "?" alternating in the folder icon.

< so I went back and made sure I remembered how to boot from a CD >

< btw which of the three shuts off the system? < the indented one on
bottom right? < not familiar with the system --- yet > >

so thats where Im at. so maybe the CD isnt getting in?? I opened it back
up to check all the jumpers < HD was set to Master-device 0 > the CD/DVD
was also set to Master < my first experience with an IDE CD drive-whether
on a chain or not > so my only conclusion I can come up with is that
the jumper on the CD is incorrect.

any ideas?
Thanks
Ralph
