i've got an adaptec 2930cu scsi card (stock from apple) in my graphite
g4 733 and have never had problems with it. what os are you using? i'm
only using 9.1, x might be different. one thing that sometimes helps is
to use an "active" or "forced perfect" terminator (i've got an active
terminator). of course cable quality also matters. then again it might
just be the 2930 card as you suggest. it's also possible, depending on
how jumpers are set, that there isn't power to the terminator which it
must have to operate properly, i've occasionally had this problem. one
nice feature of the better terminators is an led showing if it has
power. it may also be peculiar to hard disk toolkit/speedtools. i've
only used silverlining for both my internal and external drives, the
disk driver could make all the difference. it might be worth
reformatting with the apple formatter the next time you do a major
overhaul. some formatting tools will let you just update the driver
without reformatting, silverlining will in any case. of course it might
also be wise to remove and reinsert the scsi card, bad connections on
the pci bus could also do odd things. (note: different "phil")
