Arne:

I did a lot of research and price shopping before buying a network router
and ended up getting the SMC Barricade SMC7004AWBR wired/wireless unit for
$99 after rebate at CompUSA. If you dan't have a need for wireless the
wire-oly model can be had for $49 after rebate!

I use the 10/100 wired ENet connection to a Beige G3 (upgraded to G4/500)
running OS 8.6 and a Charcoal iMac G3/600 running OSX 10.1.5, and the
wireless 801.2b connection to a PBG3 Wallstreet (upgraded to G3/466) running
OS 8.6 via an Orinoco Gold wireless PCMCIA card and a PC running WinXP via
an SMC PCI wireless card. All were easy to hook up and they work great.
SMC provides 128 bit WEP security for the wireless link, and I live in a
quiet urban neigborhood. I've had no security problems in the one month
I've used this setup.

SMC's documentation is mac-friendly and I highly recommend their equipment.

Regards, Jim
