Obviously, you don't live in Germany or most of continental Europe. What about shareware? Or even most commercial SW nowadays? I live is a small town of 10000 with no PC store at all, let alone someone with Macs, albeit, there is a very knowledgable place in an even smaller village about 10 miles from here, but they only have Macs 'cause they use them; most of what they sell are PCs and Novell services. I buy packaged SW and almost all hardware from them, though this machine came thru eBay. and Philip wrote: >it's certainly always best to buy locally, for the economy, so that the store is still there when you need something small in a hurry, and because they are often a valuable source of advice. This is my standpoint, too, even if it is more expensive. That hasn't stopped the all the hardware stores from becoming extinct, and the only paint store is in the next town, and if she had to live off the store she'd close up. All becuase of the big DIY places with everything - everything but what you need most of the time. OTOH, by freak coincidence, there is a very good bookstore 5 minutes on foot from here. b http://www.william-jurgenson.com regards, Bill http://www.zabernet.de/bill -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
