FWIW, Jaguar ain't gonna work either. I've been trying to install X.1 and x.2 on a Beige DT for two weeks. No joy yet. Mine too only has SCSI drives. An IDE ought to be arriving in a day or two. Maybe that's the glitch. Other than SCSI drives mine's a box stock 266 G-3. A "supported" machine.
The first indication of trouble was the "Cannot switch to CD" message when the Install button was pressed. Manually setting it to boot from the CD and restarting results in a black screen. Holding 'option' down and warm booting gets to the open firmware prompt with no keyboard response. A PRAM zap brings it back to booting off the HDD. Same results with the "C" key and the Vulcan Nerve Pinch. It is just soooooo windows like. On a Mac you put the CD in the drive, boot to it and run the installer. Not with Eks.
