Hmmm.... I never use it. It's designed for dummies but is about as helpful
as one on most occasions. I mean while we are on the subject of things
like this can *anyone* tell me what Apple Events are please? I wasn't able
to find much info in the Help file. I mean are they useful for anything I
might be able to do between 2 OS X machines?

Current support? Continued Updates? The ability for you to get support
from Apple Stores without guys creasing themselves 'cause you have a nice
machine and are still running OS 9.x ;). Suddenly need a new piece of
software for a project? Ooops it doesn't run in OS 9.x (it'll happen one
day). Add to that the fact it is a pleasing OS to work in, look at. I know
that seems superficial but I got sick of staring at Grey stuff in 9.x - so
much so that I stopped using OS 8.x on my 68ks 'cause System 7 has white
dialogs! It is very much more stable so you get more stuff done, that's
not just hype. I don't really know what you want to *do* with your Mac so
I can't run off a Jobsian-esqe style of advantages for the end-user but
tell me and I will try :)

I know networking is sooo useful when it works but it is a complete
ba%&$%&d when it doesn't. One of the things I am very keen to look at in
10.2 is how much it has improved as I find , as Al has, that the
networking is shambolic at the best of times.

As far as getting to your other machines try this:

Go->Connect to server.
Select the 'AppleTalk' directory/folder/thingy
That should, after a short pause, reveal all the machines on your network
with File Sharing enabled.

It's always worked for me (except in 10.0.x when it broke every so often
but then what didn't!!). Or alternativel try buying 10.2 :)
