There are many people who feel as you do about the CMD line.
However, if you ever run into a real problem, there are times when it 
can come in VERY handy for getting into and resolving a software or 
hardware issue.
I have NO experience with UNIX, but as a Win2000 Lan Administrator, I 
can tell you there are some things that you can do with a CMD line that 
takes extra steps with a GUI.
However, if you don't feel it is important, don't use it ;-)
