Maybe this is a dumb comment, but since X does contain a version of 9, and I 
know from personal experience that 9 will support serial printers since I'm 
using my trusty Apple LS laserwriter with it, doesn't it stand to reason that 
if a serial board is installed in a G, any serial printer will work if the 
driver is available? Again, I may be displaying my ignorance, but the logic 
seems worth a try.
