Naahhh I'd much rather just buy something that is fast and keep > the manufacturers warranty on the upgrade. > Thats what I toyed with for awhile, but to be honest I havent much use for a manufacturers warrenty when it came down to it. If something goes wrong with my B&W I doubt my mac is still under warranty anyway, whether it is or isnt, Ive always troubleshooted or replaced what I needed to. with the 4 macs Ive owned sending something to Apple has never really been an option, now if I bought a NEW mac at any point in my life - voiding the warranty would be kinda foolish =) (unril the warranty is up) also if you ever add anything faster in MHZ to your B&W you will have to adjust the MB to accept it < unless as in my case you switch out a g3/400 for a g4/400 then all is needed is to flash the firmware < can always flash back to orig, firmware (Id assume) if needed use of the warranty > <as a rule of thumb most any Zif can be overclocked 50mhz over without any need of a cooling fan-and on a 350mhz thats a 20% processor speed increase for $0 =) >

Yes it is a genuine mac version <saw one that went a month or so before mine *with a voodoo3<flashed> and it sold for $35 for the two (talking about missing out on a good deal =( ) > all-in-all Id do some research before spending any serious $ on a Soundblaster <xlr8 even has a single forum dedicated to these troublesome buggers started by a Creative guy to help us mac owners out in sympathy> in most cases they are much more trouble than they are worth < crashes systems > they are quite unstable and have almost 0 support for macs from creative..so might have a osx driver-setup in the distant future... but took them a couple years just to come out with a new/more stable driver. and there has only been ONE update to the orig. that I know of. From advice and tinkerings from other users I think Ive finially got it stable enough to use on a daily basis. If you do get one dont expect it to be a plug/play device ( I did and it reaked havok on my system ) found out the hard way, you must also take out the card if you have to reformat your HD and install anything past 8.5 btw from the forums that I read there were stores/online/etc blowing them out at prices under $50 at one point. (xlr8 forum) * to show the great support they have for mac...ex: the hyped EAD (or whatever sound tech) for games < mainly DeusEx and UT > that the SB is capable of for game enhancement is non-existant for Mac versions of the game (they only catered to PC with the patches produced) both UT and SB are about 3yrs old and still no patch/support in sight for a MAC. Im not holding my breath either =) -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
