I think Apple did that because of their plans at the time to put out the PCI G4 model....which as far as I can tell is the exact same as a B&W in a dif case and with a G4 chip. Ive read roumors that powerlogix is working on a work-around for that as was the case with the firmware so that they can market their new 800mhz to B&W owners =) > >> Thats what I toyed with for awhile, but to be honest I havent much >> use for >> a manufacturers warrenty when it came down to it. I tried on a rev. 1 B&W to get the speed up to 450MHz. It > diddn't work. I now have a Rev. 2. Is there any chance the CPU is > copper not Aluminum based as that was what stopped the G3s going over > 400MHz IIRC. They had to re-jig the production line to do the faster > chips in copper. Not certian...I do remember that the Zif I took out of it and sold had copper pins though. I also have a rev 2.... as far as I know <which is just enough to get by =)> the ONLY way to increase the speed over the stock setting is to remove the warranty seal <white tape near the processor> and flick a couple swithces on the jumper box.... even if replacing a G3/350 zif with a g3/400 Zif from another identical B&W, the MB has to be adjusted in order to run at the higher Processor speed. which in this case, since you have to adjust it to add the 400 zif one should just do the adjustment alone and leave the 350 in there. making it an overclocked 350 -> 400. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
