Bad or incompatible memory can cause your computer to crash or do weird
things- I had it happen with a stick I got that was supposedly compatible.
The seller replaced it and then no problems.
Take out one module at a time to try to id the problem one(s). You can leave
the cover off but power it down before you stick your hand in each time.

To empty a locked item from the trash hold down the option key while
emptying. Try that if you haven't.
