which router are you using? some of the better ones no doubt will manage or allow you to manage the bandwidth more "fairly". most likely the problem is that cable modems only have so much bandwidth, it's not that hard to saturate. also remember some sites are slow on the server end, meaning your connection speed and equipment is irrelevant since they just aren't able to keep up at the sending end. there's also a "bogus" rumor/politics thing starting about "bandwidth hogs" on cable modems, which depending on who you talk to is a myth, they just want to be able to charge more by charging for bandwidth or whatever it takes (i wish they'd be honest, then again i'm one of those nuts who thinks the post office should charge more for all mail, and charge at least double for junk mail, which is the main culprit in clogging the system, besides it's other loathsome characteristics..).
<OT>, the real problem is the telco companies, despite their massive ad campaigns etc. are having trouble making money, i suspect it's the same as the problem with airlines and many other large businesses, too much competition for low fees while providing high service which leads to all the competitors hugging each other firmly in a death spiral as they take each other down, never realizing that most people would be happy to pay a little more if the customer mattered and the service was a little better. i swear most people with "business" degrees have some serious reality problems and don't seem to be very good problem solvers </OT>. White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, how much blood will it take to win back the first amendment, which the Bush administration clearly does not support!
