$3050 for an iMac with a SuperDrive? Hmm. Well, you are comparing them to $750 Dells with a CDRW and CRT screens, OK. Now compare that same Dell to a $1199 iMac G4 with a 15" LCD, CDRW. Considering that a CRT 17" [most cheap Dells come with 15" CRTs but I will spot you that much] is under $100 or so, for a really nice one perhaps we could go as high as $150, and a 15" LCD is about $500+ for a really good one. We can attribute at least $200-400+ of the price difference to the LCD. Not in terms of what it costs each OEM but what it costs people to buy these things. So there we are, add $200-400+ to the cost of the Dell to the cost of the lowend iMac, and we are within $250 at the best case scenario [for your argument] or equal to the iMac in cost [pending on the displays you compare you could actually make the Dell more expensive for fairly equivalent stuff]. But like I said, you want to compare the cheapest Dell to the most expensive iMac you can custom make at Apple's site? Then, yeah the iMac will cost more ... duh.
