G'day from Oz WoW!!!
I can't believe liddle ol' me started such a volitile discussion thread. Ah well, Aussies are reknowned for creating controversy, We have a term for it, we call it s**t stirring! And having a good go at some-one or company is termed 'slanging off'' Plenty of slanging off about Apple support all over disussion groups, but I agree no-where near as much as the weird mobs side. For what it's worth, I have jusy visited the Agfa site for X software. Now, take note, Agfa stopped making scanners years ago, but they still pay people to write updated software for both platforms, and each version gets better. X is supported. To me, that's real, real good business sense. People are so impressed, they go back and buy Agfa products knowing they''ll get updated support for the life of that product. And their staff are responsive, and replies fast. Now, back to the problem I've advertised, my usb card. Jaguar now works with my problem card!!! The first time I tried Classic, it froze. I pulled the card to run 9.2.2., then re-inserted to run Jag, and out of a morbid sense of curiuosity tried Classic again. No problems at all since then. Still can't boot in 9, but Classic is ok, especially if you set preferences to open new windows. Running a Logitech cordless mouse and Zip. All this on a US $12 card. (4 ext, 1 int ports). I can't believe how good the mouse is. I've only got a left hand, and it has made such a difference for me. You can even graph the acceleration to suit, and set individual responses for each supported App. (a download update, not the crummy CD one). And no card to get caught on the keyboard. Great OS!! Highly recommend. A note. I use Netscape, but the X install does not import previous settings. Easy to fix! If you want to know how, post and I'll give directions.
