Of course you are right, Bruce. But that was only three years ago. My 4 year
old Beige still works great. Forced obsolescence isn't a great idea, the
majority of people just can't afford to replace a fine, functioning computer
every two or three years. I still have a perfectly fine 10 year old postscript
printer. Why shouldn't X support it?

My wife still uses an older SuperMac, localtalked to the printer and my Beige.
She can't print while I'm in X.

I think of myself as a power user since I do DV video, burn DVDs and manage to
keep up with it all on an suped up older machine. I can't afford to do anything
else.

And I still run a 12 year old Amiga because it is useful to me and lots of old
files are accessable on it. And I fly an airplane built in 1946 and I love it.
It's not my way to dump stuff that still works good. (Even bad grammar.)

And, with all the hoopla in X, some stuff still works better in 9. The move
from 68K to PPC was much more transparent since almost everything still worked.

In 5 years this will all seem silly, I agree, but this transition isn't that
easy. Sorry, I wish it were.
