I think he is right Matt.  I don't think he meant any offense meant at all.
You will waste lot of time trying to make it work.  And you, as a medical
student, MUST place a high value on your time.  The answer to your first
question is "no."  You will not be able to get more than 333 out of a 300MHz
ZIF.  That's pretty much standard.  233's go to 266.  300's go to 333. Etc.
That's a pretty normal and tested percentage.  You can get a 350 or a 400
ZIF pretty cheaply, and remember, cache is everything.
