John, I cut & pasted this response to the list from jsjones. Kudos->js
<<The memory controller in your G3s will not recognize high-density (32 MB) memory chips. The maximum, per chip, is 16 MB. So, if your memory module has 8 chips, the greatest amount of memory that will be seen is 128 MB. To be seen as 256 MB, the module would have to have 16 chips. In listing memory, vendors have a variety of ways to specify the density, but most often they will represent it in terms of A X B, where A is the amount of memory per chip and B is the number of chips on the module. Your 256 MB module is probably 32 X 8 and has chips on only one side. >> In a message dated 12/20/02 10:12:14 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: >My current question has been discussed fairly recently on the list but >I >don't remember a resolution. > >I bought a new pc133/256 mb RAM at Office Depot (>rebate cost $20).
