The drive crashed while using it on an iMacDV but I do use the enclosure on a
Beige 266 DT with the Orangelink Firewire PCI card and a B&W & G4 - to easily
transfer project files. So is the B&W firewire port unreliable? and cause a
drive to crash and ruin the drive?

Had the same problem, several times, with my OWC 911 Mercury Enclosure
using the FW port on my B&W Yosemite.
Other B&W Yosemite posters have experienced the same "flacky" FW Port
problem

I was able to fix it once using Disk Warrior as the bootup drive. . Try
it
It may recognize the drive.
If not , you are S.O.O.L.

When the smoke clears, consider buying a PCI -FW card, like I did (
Adaptec 4300)

Good luck and keep smiling
