I've just tried a MacAlly USB 2.0 card in my beige G3 Rev. A It works under Jaguar 10.2.3 but I don't know if it works at USB 2.0 speed since I don't have a device to try it.
But it does not work under OS 9.2.2 In fact it is so bad that the computer won't even boot and you're stock having to remove the card before you can restart the computer. An e-mail from technical support of Macally confirmed that the card will not work in a Rev A G3. Of course they don't mentioned that on the box or on the web site. My understanding is no card will work at full USB 2.0 speed in any Mac because Apple doesn't want competition for Firewire ! Hope this help.
