Around here (Denmark), there are lots of cheap 8500s available. Got mine (stock 120 mhz/36 mb ram/dead hd) for free, scavenged the UW SCSI card and 4 gb hd from my Beige G, got a 128 mb ram stick when they were dead cheap and snatched an rca cable from a friends "misc" box, when helping him moving. Now this solid little Mac is part of the stereo set. Runs 9.1, iTunes for plying cd's and mp3, Peak for recording from the radio, and editing out all the talk and commercials. Nice setup which hardly ever fails me. I'd recommend a larger hd though, 4 gb is a bit too small when editing a 1 gb file (app. 1 1/2 hour recording).
