This was your first mistake. Bad one. Don't do that, you'll break it.

Restart the system from the Jag CD, then select Disk Utility from the 
installer menu and reformat the partition from within OSX.

DO NOT use tools for OS 9 (like Nortons) on OSX disks, you WILL mess 
things up.

My personal opinion is that if you used Norton's CD's as coasters they 
would cause the glasses you set on them to crash. If you used Norton's 
CD's as skeet targets they'd cause your shotgun to jam. If you used them 
as Christmas ornaments, they'd focus light onto your tree causing it to 
burst into flames.
