I had trouble with a new USED Beige G3 266/Rev II.

Initially after the computer was on for a few hours it put itself to sleep
never to wake again. I assumed something wrong with the PS.

Now with a new PS, it worked great for a couple of days with only 1 or 2
mysterious crashes. This is with a different HD and a different System
install of OS8.6 and now it has happened again. (That hard drive and system
is now running my PM6500 with no worries as I type this.)

Today I booted up, checked the email put the machine to sleep and could not
wake it later. A couple of keyboard light flashes and some low fan noise
when started, no bong, then nothing. It appears to be completely dead
again.

Pushing the reset button on the MB and reseating ALL the cards has no
effect. The PRAM battery is new.

Could it be that there is something wrong with the MB or the voltage
regulator? I am still running the stock 266, but I see that the previous
owner probably had it jumpered at one point, thought the original jumper
block is in place now, set correctly to stock settings.

All help is appreciated, as I don't know what to do next. For 15 years I
have never had to take a Mac into the shop, I really hope not to do that
now.

Thanks gang,

joseph
