Norton sucks. Don't use it.
I've actually used Norton from an OS 9 CD on a X drive with no adverse affects. Freaky, I know, but it is absolutely true. In fact I've never had adverse affects when using Norton on any of the hundreds of customer computers I've worked on (most running 9 or below, a few running X). Many of those same customers (as well as friends and family) have used it with no problems for years. I would never recommend running it from a hard drive, only while booted from a CD. Based on my own experience, I have to think that if it screwed up your drive, there was something far worse going on already. I do know you don't install it on a X drive, it won't boot correctly if you update the system folder afterward. Easily fixed by removing Norton. Kyle, I keep hearing you and a few others say it sucks. I've never heard or seen your reasons. Let's hear some good stories about Norton F***-ups. I have had Diskwarrior F-up a customer drive once or twice, but it still has a great track record.
