Since I upgraded to Jaguar from OS 9.2.2 a few weeks ago, my Blue + White G3 (rev 2, 1 GB RAM) seemed sluggish. Working in Photoshop was especially bad as I couldn't get a stroke from my tablet to flow; there was always a delay and then the brush stroke never caught up with my cursor.
I decided to upgrade the processor and yesterday ordered an OWC Ziff G4/ 500 card which should arrive on Monday. I also called ATI to take advantage of their trade-up program and ordered their Radeon 7000 32MB Mac Edition video card. I use two monitors, one powered by the original Rage 128 and the other (the main monitor) by an ATI VR 128 (this card has video inputs also). I'll be sending the Rage 128 card back to ATI as part of the deal. I do a lot of heavy graphics work in both Painter and Photoshop. I also use 3D programs that are supposed to be pretty nice with OpenGL-- something I'm looking forward to experiencing. Which brings me to these questions: 1. Can the Radeon 7000 drive both monitors (two 17" ViewSonic CRT) with no loss in quality or speed? 2. Should I instead use the VR 128 to drive my second monitor? Any thoughts, tips, or resources I can turn to would be appreciated. Thanks. Mark -- Mark Gerber GERBER STUDIO/Tradigital Illustration -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
