Hi. I had a similar problem with sound when I 1st acquired my G3 DT a few 
months ago. It turned out that the personality card -- that thing that
sits
next to the PCI slots (to the left if you're looking from the back) & 
carries the burden of providing sound circuitry (& other things) to our 
beige babies -- wasn't seated completely in its slot.
