Don't know about the XLR8 ZIF, however, everything I have read on overclocking regarding Mac's or pee cee's has said pretty much the same thing: "There is a limit too how much you can overclock. If you encounter erratic operation, back down to the fastest previous stable speed", or words to that effect.
Whether the limitations are inherent in the card, the system bus, firmware, etc., is really immaterial. If it wont run, with stability, at the higher speed, you've exceeded the limits of that particular combination. I have some gamer friends who are seriously into overclocking pee cee's. Everyone of them has a number of tales of woe, starting with: "everything was working great and then I tried to bump it up to......". <G> If you've got it running well at 400?
