Well, not necessarily.  It has been proven that these chips are not
performing at their peak and to overclock it just means that you are getting
its full potential.  You're right regarding going overboard and frying your
chip BUT that said if you're not  trying to double your speed then it should
be safe.  I've left it at 400MHZ and it's purring along just fine (knock on
wood).  With the ArcticSilver3 and the heatsink fan, I've gotten the
temperature down to about an average of 28C -- it actually starts at 20C and
rises to about the 32C mark once I've run several apps for about several
hours.  Actually the highest it has ever hit was about 40C and that was when
I was using iMovie3 for awhile rendering footage, transitions, titles, etc.
while listening to iTunes and having Entourage open.
