I'll just BET you quit trying at Netscape 6, right? Netscape 6 was poor beta quality software with a lot of bugs.
Netscape 7.02 is a fast, compliant stable browser, considerably improved over even 7.0.
I use the Open Source version Mozilla day in and out (and have used it as my primary browser since version 0.6, Netscape 6 was Mozilla 0.8, Netscape 7.02 is Mozilla 1.1) and it was really rough back in those days.
