I have OS X 10.2.6 on three Beige G3s.

Beige 400 G3
Beige 300 G3
Beige 266 G3

Upgrading the video helps a lot. Getting at least 384MB of RAM helps a lot. It is usable, I run a server on one and the other two [the slower two actually] are work stations for generic stuff, Quicken, web browsing, email, word processing, etc ...

My G4 733 is certainly faster, but my Beige G3 400 OS X Server keeps pace with my Pismo.

But yes, the floppy is unsupported, completely. I haven't used a floppy in about 5 years so I didn't care but you might I don't know. SCSI works fine, Serial does not, ADB works fine.
