Hey all:

I bought the Cendyne CDRW drive from OfficeMax that I mentioned a few days
ago. I got the last one they had!

Anyway, can anyone here remember what the official master/slave
configuration is for a Beige G3 desktop machine? The Zip drive in mine
appears to be on the SCSI bus. I configured the hard drive and the CDRW to
be on separate buses, each set to Master. That seemed to work fine in OS 9
including booting from an OS 9 CD, but when I tried to boot into OS X from
the Jag CD, I get "unknown word" in Open Firmware and I can't seem to type
in anything.

If the CDRW is the only device on the bus, try un-setting the master/slave jumpers, ie: put it across two pins horizontally (so you don't lose the jumper) so that it's set to neither Master or Slave. We had a Beige G3 MT that wouldn't boot properly in OSX until we did that to the hard drive. It can't hurt, in any case, all it can do is not work.
