This is correct the MDD G4s are the first Macs to address large 
capacity drives, however, your firmware on the card is not affected by 
the newness of your Mac so the card must have new enough firmware for 
that feature.

Thank you for the reply.  My current configuration sees the whole 160GB
drive.  I read somewhere that the latest G4's made in 2003 no longer 
have
the size issue.  Folks are putting them on the ATA 66 or 100 bus and 
they
are working.

I had also read on the Sonnet site that some machines/hds (not 
specified)
will not get the 8MB cache to work and only use 2MB.  I don't know how 
to
tell though.  While I'm doing video editing I would like all the 
available
hardware pieces to work fully.
I bought two of those 160GBs for my OS X Server and that same card,
running the firmware update caused me no harm and made things work
better.
That's the issue for me is will the firmware upgrade make things 
better or
worse.  It must be time to write to Sonnet and see what they saw since 
the
site has nothing specific on it.
