I queried the list last week about my upgrading to a 160GB HD and a Sonnet Tempo ATA 133 PCI card. I wrote the question to Sonnet and received this reply: Actually you'd need v4.5 of the firmware to support that large drive to its full capacity. And if you just bought the Tempo card, that's probably what is on it. We've been shipping 4.5 on our cards for some time now. Take a look at the card. Locate the chip with the Promise logo on it. There should be a sticker on it with a number. That's the firmware version. If it's not 4.5, get that update from our website. The firmware update has to be run under OS 9 proper and not Classic.
FWIW I replied back asking how to the 4.5 firmware update if one does not have access to OS9. Fortunately the card I bought has the 4.5 already. Thank you to David and Peter for their responses to my question. -- George Henry-Schneider G4/1.25DP/1GB/FW 800 OS 10.2.6 -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
