It's not just Mac stuff. Coin-operated arcade machines and parts sellers have their own batch of dishonest scumbags. Fortunately for them., there is a newsgroup that people can post to about their bad experiences. Some of the replies from the dirty sellers are pretty hilarious, making it look as though it's the buyer's fault that they didn't get what they paid for. Changing or using a new eBay ID doesn't work either; these people are very diligent about keeping track of crooks. The best part is that the majority of the jerks have to defend themselves if they don't want their gravy train derailed.

But, alas, scams still happen. There are those that prey on those newbies who are dying to get ahold of a part of their childhood.

You may have a point. Thou I started in eBay by buying Mac stuff and never
had a problem. I think is all about buying things from honest people.
Examining the feedback is a must, look for people with higher numbers. And if the
buy it now price is too good to be true from a nobody (not a known seller)
suspect anything. I sometimes prefer to spend 5-10 dollars more and buy from a
dealer with high rating than a nobody in eBay.
