The story is basically a press release for Symantec, so naturally they're spreading fear to promote their AV products. The specific viruses mentioned are 1) an Outlook virus and 2) Macro viruses (i.e. MS Word). In real life, hardly any of these actually work on Macs (they usually have specific code to only work on the Windows versions). You notice the commonality of Microsoft here....
