Is it a direct connect ethernet printer? If so, is it using AppleTalk or IP? AppleTalk is pretty slow and that may be at least part of the problem. I think part of this issue is attributable to the communication type.

It'd be fun to hook the same printer to the same Mac via USB and print the same pages in a head to head competition.

I have a G4/933 with 512MB & I print on an Ethernet-connected Apple LaserWriter Pro 630 /8MB.
Very slow (5 to 10 min on some documents). Worse problem on HTML pages of a website (Orbitz receipt): half an hour.
However, it prints Excel sheets, email (HTML) files & text VERY FAST.
Any suggestions?
