Hardly. You went off on Apple's evil proprietary Airport card as if it were the only solution and would be the reason IT folks hate Apple. (Because they hate getting ripped off)
1) IT folks don't specify Apple because no one ever got fired for specifying Microsoft. Period. MS is the safe choice that keeps them gainfully employed.
2) I'd just posted multiple perfectly viable non-Apple-proprietary solutions, so the premise of your argument was invalid on the face of it.
3) You say you're leaning *nix (Jezzus, just call it unix, all right. I don't care what RMS says, it IS unix, ok?) because they have open source graphical shells. Well all good and fine, but puleeze. Don't compare the Mac OS to Gnome or KDE. There is no comparison.
Just don't drag up the old 'Evil Apple Proprietary Monopoly' straw man again, ok. That stopped holding water along about a decade ago.
Besides, IT folks apparently *LOVE* getting ripped off. Why else would they be buying into the Wintel madness?? How much did Blaster and Sobig cost us all last week?
