>How exactly are you measuring this"consistant speed"?
Dropping to aburd levels below 56k sometimes. PnP software does slow things down but when things are working well, it does not seem affected by it to that point. But I will usually test things out by only having the browser on when I do a speed test.
Do the speed tests at dslreports.
> Who is your xDSL provider? Are they doing anyconnection throttling or traffic shaping? Whatdown and upstream speeds are your circuitrated? Please provide traceroutes to these sites, etc etc etc...
Verizon is my provider and can't answer those other questions but I do know Verizon supports and sells routers, i.e., Linksys. I've discussed my issues with them on multiple occasions, as well as Belkin. I bought brand new cables and even put a Belkin ethernet card in the PC. I've often wondered if I should just get a plain 10 speed card for the PC like I have in the Mac.
Without knowing what speed your circuit is rated, and your locale, figuring this out is like trying to tell why a rabbit is slow when it's riding on a snail.
Not sure what you mean by traceroutes?
