I really don't know which list to send this to. I know many of you subscribe

I am trying to network my iMac to my Beige, 2 G3 PowerBooks, 6500 and a
Q840av. One PowerBook and the Beige G3 are using 10.2.6 and the rest of the
Macs are using 9.2.2.

What am I missing here? I should be able to use one setting for both and not
have to worry about changing.

You can only have one network interface functioning at once. PPP or Ethernet.

Now you can get by with using PPP for TCP/IP and Ethernet for Appletalk, but you won't be able to see any OS X box, since it does Appleshar over IP. You probably won't be able to see the 9.2 systems either (and if your 840AV is running 9.2.2 I'll be *humongously* impressed.)

(In truth, the problem is with my wife and
kids. They are not that understanding about switching back and forth and
want me to leave it on one setting.) I mean, this is a iMac-it is made for
this, right? Easy connecting and easy to network.

My suggestion is to use Location Manager.

Under OS X this can be done.
