My brother has a 15" tibook, new as of May this year. He's used up his 30 or 60 day free phone support already.
It's developed a battery problem; battery doesn't charge. Unplug it, powerbook won't run, plug it in, battery doesn't charge up. He's a long way from any Apple service center locally; it's under warranty but he'ld have to mail it someplace even to have it checked out. Is this a common problem? His OS X is up-to-date as of a month or so ago (he did the software update about that long ago). I don't have any more details about how long the battery lasts (minutes or moments or nothing- I suspect nothing) or if it even notices that a battery is in place when plugged in and if it is even trying to charge it- info that would be useful to know. Thanks for any similar experience/fixes for this- I know the last thing he wants to do is wait for 60 minutes on the phone for an Apple person, even though they'll fix problems under warranty.
