Well, all this input and still it's a tough choice. On one hand the 9600 offers the extra space. I really don't think I will ever max out the ram though. I am doing just fine with a half full S900. But the 9600 requires the Daughtercard, IDE Card and Vid Card. These definitely add up even though it already has a vid card. And so a few added pci slots are moot when comparing to what the G3 already has on board.
Since the G3 already has IDE, SCSI and onboard video. So those are slots I wouldn't have to worry about unless I wanted to upgrade the video. The zif is also a bit cheaper than the daughtercard. Another plus. Of course a slight faster bus and easy OSX upgrade. I'm kind of leaning towards the G3 because I also have the s900's, which are similar to the 9600 in many respects (except for mass:) I do have an 8500 sitting here idle. Q 1: Will the Wings AV Card fit in either the 9600 and the G3? > As the G3T uses IDE/ATA hard drives, while the 9600 uses 50-pin (narrow) SCSI. > Being more common, ATA drives are cheaper and more available. The G3T has two > ATA interfaces and one SCSI, so depending on which motherboard/ROM revision > you have, you could have up to four ATA drives. (Some of the earlier G3Ts with > Revision 1 ROMs, did not support ATA slave devices. You can upgrade the ROm to > revsion 3, if you can one.) .... > - Ron. Q 2: Where do I find the Revision #? The ROM chip has numbers 820-0954-01 date 1997. Is this the Revision 1? I would definitely want to be able to use Master/Slave. Maybe not so big an issue since it is upgradable.
